Jang Geum believed that what they did was not that wrong. They only tried to do the best things the kitchen’s servants should do. This is the reason why Jang Geum forced the messenger to eat the food that she will prepare for him for 4 days. After it, if there is no progress on his health then she’s ready to receive the hardest punishment.

The messenger accepted the deal that Jang Geum proposed. And she prepared the food for the messenger for four days. Jang Geum thought that she failed. But then on the fifth day, the messenger surprised her because the truth is that the messenger praised the firmness of Jang Geum’s faith on her principles, and the food she prepared.
